Dream’s End Has Moved!
I have moved Dream’s End to its new website. I’m excited about this move and the possibilities it allows. There will be no more posts on this site, and I’d encourage everyone to make any comments in the new Dream’s End forum. Thanks to all who helped with money or advice in making that move happen.
All the posts and comments here have been moved over there, but I’ll keep this blog active for awhile until people find their way to the new place.
See ya there!
Tipping Allowed
I have added a “donation” button over on the sidebar. I hate to be crass, and I’ll survive if folks don’t have extra cash to spare, but this blog has begun to eat up a lot of time, and though I very much enjoy writing Dream’s End, I have to go and make a living as well. I’m hoping that if I can generate just a little income off of this site, I’ll have a little less pressure to fill all my time with clients from my “day job”. As such, I can spend more time here.
We’ll keep going either way, but if you have a little to spare and can drop a few coins in the tip jar, it will make it possible for me to do more with this site.
Update: Thanks to those who have contributed. I have raised so far $150.02. That’s not a misprint. I received a donation of $.02 from Wonderer in the Wilderness on behalf of “Saw it Coming” who previously posted as “Belfaster.”
I’m in the process of figuring out how to move this wordpress blog to its own server and also to add a forum. I hope to resume my regular Dream’s End posts soon. For some reason, I think that should start with renewing our look at Scientology. Just “feels” right, ya know?
Announcing the Duncan Annex
Well, there’s really not much there yet, but from here on out, the conversation about Duncan and Blake, for those who believe that there’s something awfully “gamey” going on here, will take placed in the Dream’s End Duncan/Blake Annex. Please do me a favor and if you think that there is nothing to this ARG business, please simply ignore that site. In fact, I’m thinking of making it members only but I seem only to be able to allow 35 users at a time to access a private blog unless I pay for an upgrade. So, for now, it is open to the public. However, comments are only for people registered to WordPress. If you’ve been reading the comments for the last couple posts, you’ll understand why.
I have only barely begun putting stuff up over there, but my plans include: links to major articles and already extant sites, links to the sorts of “clue” pages that no one else is paying attention to, research into the people involved including discussion of who might be behind this and also links and discussion of the very serious themes, such as child trafficking that the ARG creators are either exploiting or hoping to draw our attention to. What I DON’T have, is a forum. If anyone wants to hook me up with one that would be great. I don’t know enough to do it from scratch. The comments section doesn’t work too well for this kind of thing, and once the big reveal about Blake still being alive comes along, we’ll get a tad more traffic, I’d imagine.
A copy of the rest of this article is going to be placed in the Annex. Comments on this article are closed. You wanna help with this? Register and hit the annex. You want to make soap operas? Well, you have a while longer until I decide to make this blog’s comments feature for registered users only.
But now, some nice research:
I’d like to highlight a comment made in reply to my last post. It is the first comment from someone who actually bothered to really look into what I’ve been saying. It’s really not that hard to find this stuff, though he is particularly keensighted. I’m going to post his entire comment, just ’cause it made me happy. I’ll have just a few additional comments along the way. Thanks “Not a Monarch” for actually having a look at this material.
I had never heard of an ARG until a couple of days ago when I dropped into the middle of DE’s investigation’s here. It has taken me until today to read back thru all the posts, comments and links. I wanted to be caught up to the present before posting my own ARGish findings so as not to clutter the comments with duplications.
I have to say, throughout these posts, DE has consistently encouraged readers to do their own explorations, and to join their efforts cooperatively with his, but besides a couple of notable exceptions, it seems his readership is universally lacking his self-directed spirit of inquisitiveness. *sigh*
I spent ooooh…. maybe 30 minutes (a fraction of the time spent actually reading thru this thread!) clicking around here and there and came up with these gems:
1) The “Alice Underground” film project was supposedly produced back in 2000 (this is not the same as the reported project of the same name Duncan was supposedly working on…but read on, it gets interesting –DE).
Get This!:
“General Productions based this independent film on Lewis Carrolls’ original book, which portrays a much darker story than most movie-makers care to produce. ALICE UNDERGROUND features a new cinematic style, certain to rouse the viewers senses as they join one woman on her journey through the streets of Manhattan.
The film-making technique is certainly unusual, the whole thing being shot entirely as a series of thousands of 35mm digital still photographs which were then transferred in sequence to videotape. Various optical effects were possible this way, fading from from frame-to-frame, merging and combining frames over time, and distorting the time frame itself. The film owes as much to the theatre, rock videos and commercials as it does to traditional cinema.”http://www.alice-in-wonderland.fsnet.co.uk/film_tv_underground.htm
Directed by the improbably named Robert E. Lee, who apparently died in 1994:

2) How about the foreshadowing of the “silencing” of the Wit over a year before her suicide from the weirdly literary blog called Staircase Witch: (DE pointed me in this direction.)
(Note, here’s how you get to “Staircase Witch from Duncan’s blog. She mentioned “badfeminist” as one of her favorite sites but didn’t provide a link. You google it and then click a link…it won’t work. The site was pulled but you can still get a Google cache. The site that pulls up via the Google cache for badfeminist.blogspot.com has the comment from “Staircase Witch” which links to the blog entry NaM mentions. Finally, I had pointed out that one of the films mentioned as her favorite was “The Double Life of Veronique. But check out what NaM found on her Blog itself – DE)
“Monday, February 06, 2006
Herein, preliminary noises about the daunting nature of a blank page and an empty post.
You have heard of what the French call l’esprit d’escalier–”the wit of the staircase”–that absolutely perfectly brilliant retort that comes to mind after one has left the party and is ascending to one’s room–but you have never heard of the “witch of the staircase,” that beguiling, mischievous enchantress who secretly ties one’s tongue and does not loosen it until clever repartee is no longer of use. Somewhere along the way, as a child, I misheard this phrase, and although soon enough corrected was disappointed that no such magical lady existed.Once upon a time, I had another online diary, in another place, and it was a different kind of blog, one that has grown so unwieldy over time that I’ve grown tired of keeping it and would like to start again, somewhat more anonymously, building a different sort of circle, writing different kinds of posts, posts that are somewhat more careful and thoughtful. This is the blog I should have kept, with the things I should have written. Because the witch of the staircase is nothing if not all about second chances at wit, even if only for an audience of one.”

3) And as DE is predicting, foreshadowing of a happy ending: (This one I found on my own- Eric Weaver posted a comment after Glenn O’Brien’s eulogy on Wit’s blog)
“In Another Life
Posted July 30th, 2007 by Eric Weaver
Categories: Personal/Off-TopicDriving through the forest along the Oregon Coast from Charleston to Coos Bay, I saw a blonde, braided woman riding a mountain bike down the winding highway through the trees. Wearing big, dark sunglasses and rain gear, she was somewhere between 35 and 45, and her bike was piled high with camping gear. She looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t place her. Maybe 200 feet behind her was a man, somewhere between 35-45, dark hair and a week-old beard, riding behind her…his bike also piled high with camping equipment.
And just for a fleeting moment, I saw Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake heading down the coast through the Oregon forest, happy, no place in particular to be, enjoying the cool weather, ocean breeze, and scent of pines.
In an alternate universe, hopefully that’s what’s happening, right now.”So that is enuff to convince me that a “game” is afoot and that DE called it. Kudos DE.
One thing I would like to add: this whole thing stinks. I am reminded of a situation that I encountered back in the day when I was a neophyte activist. I joined a loose coalition of activists mobilizing to help a group of Native activists who were on trial under some very serious charges. My first meeting with the “organizers” of the coalition brought me up to speed on their current efforts- I think if I describe myself as having been aghast with disbelief, I wouldn’t be overstating my reaction. All efforts were being directed into organizing an harmonic convergence “be in” or some such new agey crap at a remote wilderness location. Misdirection, pure and simple.
Lets all of us, everyone, spend yer 30 mins clicking around, get it over with and lets move on.
P.S. DE I agree with your comments about the intense learning curve. It certainly has been fruitful to a point, although I don’t buy your hopeful “some good coming out of this somehow” scenario. (You are probably right….DE)
Now, imagine what would happen if 10 or 100 people started doing what my new friend Not a Monarch did. We could bust this thing wide open. But instead of surfing stuff like that, I’m spending all my time trying to move stuff over to the Annex.

To ARG or not to ARG
I started this whole thing with a theory…that somehow, against all reason, this Duncan suicide was the beginning of a rather elaborate online “alternate reality game.” Didn’t make me real popular but then again, most of what I write has the same effect.
My first theory was that the people behind this were cynical tricksters, utilizing dark and disturbing themes just for fun, or to introduce a new product or who knows why. That may be true.
But as we continued I became intrigued by another idea that, even if it turns out to have nothing to do with this whole business, is an idea I like a lot. The internet, in some ways, has leveled the playing field. Big media can have their crap broadcast channels, but there are other ways to wage “information warfare.”
Surely, the bad guys were way ahead on that one. One of the topics I have explored at length is various sorts of disinformation that have not only misled people but spawned entire subcultures. Those familiar with the sad mess that is “UFOlogy” will know exactly what I’m talking about. In fact, my blog is one of the few places that tries to look at who is behind such mythmaking. From the early days of the UFO “contactee” culture, for example, there has always been an overlap between the UFO groups and fascist movements such as the Nazi “Silver Shirts”. I’ve wondered aloud about why they spread these ideas. Do they believe them or do they simply want us to believe them? That has been the focus of much of my writing up until we were told Duncan died.
But while the internet is a perfect medium for spreading disinformation, it is also (at least for now) a rather unfiltered information source. However, there is too MUCH information. It is too hard to put the pieces together into a coherent whole. In fact, there may not be a “coherent” whole at all. As such, it is possible that the point is not to explain the world, but rather, as Marx would say, to change it.
And so I became interested in the possibility that whoever has been behind this may have had just such an agenda in mind. One of our red telephone box buddies had talked about distributed processing. One mind could not possibly take in all the information, process it, and then regurgitate it back in a way others could easily follow. Believe me, if I’ve learned nothing else, I have learned that. But millions of minds, focused on bringing light to the dark places…perhaps they can create, not a new linear narrative, but a new harmonic resonance that simply changes our understanding of what is and, thereby, the possibilities of what might yet be. Perhaps in this way, we can, together, bring the whole rotting structure down, without any of us having to bear the burden alone.
So it’s possible…maybe….that the people behind this, a collection of artists and media theorists and who knows who all else…have just such a goal in mind. I truly hope this is the case.
Of course, it’s also possible that the people behind this Duncan business are the ones originally responsible for much of the disinformation that keeps our eyes off of the “man behind the curtain” in the first place. At the very least, they have the same skillset. That much is crystal clear.
I’ve faced attack, ridicule and suspicion for these articles, but all I’ve done is allowed you to follow my own thinking process. I have invited everyone to join in…to work on their own piece of the puzzle. Whether that is to follow the ARG trail, or work backward and check out who might be behind this thing. Or investigating the issues that have been raised themselves…child trafficking, mind control and cults, media complicity, etc.
But I suggested there was an ARG and I set out to demonstrate it. I have done so to my satisfaction. I called a phone number that was a very scrambled form of the hints on the Red Phone Box page and immediately “RED” said the game was over. The clues that led me to unscramble the number came from the same people who said they were behind the game all along. I f that’s not enough evidence for anyone else, at least I have my own answer.
I was expecting, though, to receive some sort of direct communication at that point, and I have not. Other than the criticisms and accusations of my being a disinformation agent, I’ve gotten nothing but one email from a self-identified schizophrenic inviting me to explore his own personal rabbit hole. That’s it. I think one rabbit hole at a time is enough, though who knows that they aren’t all connected deeper down.
Was the man from “Quest Electric” for real? The word “Quest” is certainly suggestive, and we know that electricity was a theme of Duncan’s blog. And the web page for one “Quest Electric” suggested it was on “Oxford Street”, and the particular phone box on “Red’s” site was, indeed, in Oxford.
But who knows. I could be delusional. Or I could be the victim of some extremely fast working hoaxers who simply are amusing themselves at my expense.
But one thing I have not done, apparently, is to convince anyone that there is an ARG there at all. I’ve never, for example, received any communication from any of the architects of the major ARGS such as Majestic. With a couple of exceptions, I haven’t received communications from anyone who has even PLAYED an ARG, much less who claims much expertise on the subject. Odd, that. If I were that off target, I’d expect ridicule from them. And if right, I’d expect sites to be springing up all over of others joining in the Quest. Nothing but silence from those quarters. Perhaps, like many, they think I’ve simply gone a rabbit hole too far and that to remain quiet is the prudent approach, or if confronted, simply to nod and smile and back away.
Despite the continued attacks on me, and the ridicule…I find myself immensely richer for this journey. It suited my learning style…obsessive and associative. Because of the profundity of what was happening, my focus was fully engaged allowing me to absorb an amazing amount of material in a much shorter time than I possibly could have had I just sat down to learn the stuff in isolation.
Some have worried that this was all about diminishing the credibility of my blog and the research I was engaged in before this started. This makes me laugh, because credibility, on the internet, is very often INVERSELY proportional to readership numbers. Before all this happened, I had a few hundred regular hits per day. I could pull the blog for six months and then build back up to those numbers in less than a week. Depending on current events, I could even do it in a day. No one will remember all of this ARG business and boycott my site accordingly. And even if they did, I could simply start another one.
Further, the material I have learned about these last couple of weeks has provided a depth of background into the world of disinformation and “meme propagation” that was exactly what I was exploring in the first place. I still don’t have a lot of answers about WHY or even WHO, but I know a whole lot more about HOW…and that’s a powerful bit of knowledge.
Now, for those of you whining that I’m not looking into Cownie or Scientology enough I will simply add that I was looking into Scientology long before any of this ARG business began. And I’ve written about them some and plan to write about them more. Who knows, maybe they are even the ones who targeted me and led me on this “wild phone-box chase.”
And for Cownie, well, that’s a person, not an institution. If you think I’m going to go carelessly flinging accusations of child molestation and pedophile rings at a man without extremely solid evidence, think again. I don’t have much, but I have no intention of giving what I do have to the Cownie family at the order of some judge in a libel suit.
For those of you wanting someone to jump right into those waters, you don’t need me anyway. Alex Constantine is on the case. He’s been writing about mind control topics for many, many years. There should be plenty of material there to get you started. As for Duncan herself, there’s no need for me to compile what fragmentary and scattered information we have about who she really was and what she was really like. The encyclopedic seaword site has all of that for you. And for those of you who have accepted the ARG nature of this material, more than a few clues scattered among the articles, images and contents.
Now, I had promised to move this material to a new blog. That’s not quite what I’m going to do. For one thing, lots of articles now link here so they have an example of a crazy conspiracy site. Hate to ruin their fun. So I’m going to keep copies of these articles here…but I’ll try to get things a bit better organized. Also, writing and researching is interesting…setting up blogs and moving text…not so much. I will do my best, however, to overcome the inertia I typically have to overcome when faced with such mundane tasks.
Thanks to those of you who were able to ride on this journey with me uncritically, whether you agreed with me or not. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program…………..
Finally…
I wasn’t sure if any of the numbers I tried were correct…but eve left the clue. After a few variations, I got an electric company, several sex lines and one unanswered call. And yet at some point during this, the following appeared on “RED’s” myspace:
Red is pleased that the filming of RED and the ARG-o-noughts is finally at an end … cue music …
then this:
“current status: the clove of garlic codenamed cryptic, would have been crushed if it had given away any dialling codes …”
Either someone else was calling at the same time and got through, they grabbed my number via star 69 (thanks “Mike Payne”) or else “Quest Electric” is not actually in Green Bay. There’s certainly no listing for one in Green Bay, but the one I happened to find online was on Oxford Street in North Carolina. In Salisbury, NC, not less. Even if it wasn’t me who made it through, I imagine some kind of answers will turn up.
If it was the Quest guy…I couldn’t get him to break character. (Edit: The Quest guy gave me his name….and there is a guy by that name on some electrical contractor website…so I’m guessing he’s pretty pissed. Still…I think they must have hijacked his name…surely I’ve used up the world’s supply of synchronicity this week.)
“in no particular order…”
Fuck.
Where from here?
Well, I guess I’ll address a few concerns from the peanut gallery….
Many have wondered if this ARG thing has caused me to be led astray and neglecting my other writing. To be honest, I’ve taken longer breaks without writing anything, but I appreciate the implicit compliment to the other material. So what I’m thinking of doing is busting off another wordpress blog and moving all this material over there. I’m so freaking ADHD that things involving that kinda detail are difficult, but I’ll try.
I had hoped that I would convince enough people that there was an arg that people would begin doing their own research. If you are into ARGs themselves then you could follow the path as it is being developed (stuff is now starting to come online and it won’t be too long before the ARG-nature of this, whatever the motivation of those behind it, becomes pretty clear.
But only a few folks who comment here seem to be doing much looking into this themselves…and since my whole goal of bringing this to attention was to get lots of people looking into whatever aspects of this they wanted, I have not succeeded. A few of you have been brilliant, but probably half of you are in on the game anyway. Most just keep coming here wanting me to give them answers. I don’t have any answers to speak of. YOU are the answer. I just happen to be the one asking the right questions.
One of the primary reasons behind my “mommy make it stop” freak out post, was to “suss out” exactly what sorts of people these were. While I did not get much “sympathy” from certain people with that post, I realize I ALSO did not get much in the way of taunts, either. In addition, the Dream’s End bashing died down a bit… So I’m still withholding judgment on who is behind this. My initial take that the guys behind this ARE the bad guys has to be balanced with the realization that all the seeming targets…Cownie (I have not researched the guy myself, but Alex Constantine is totally into it) and Scientology, MKULTRA, etc…are awfully juicy targets to go after. But on the other hand, Scientology’s relative quiet on this doesn’t even let me rule out that THEY are behind this. Ditto Lyndon Larouche, about whom I’ve had little good to say. If some group were to target me who had a bunch of people with expertise and lots of time on their hands and who were based in Virginia..well, that would be the group.
So I really don’t know what’s up behind the scenes and I urge everyone to keep that in mind on your own explorations.
I had, however, speculated that they might be “good guys” after all. While I don’t believe in “Project Monarch” per se and am angry at how that whole thing has dominated internet discussions of the very real MKULTRA, there really is a major world network of child traffickers and the like. Google Mark Dutroux, for example. That stuff is very real and I have always assumed that intelligence agencies are involved as once you get someone sucked into that vortex, then all it takes is a couple of photographs and you control the person for life. Again, Dutroux’s Belgium is a very good example.
So we have this ARGness that deals with stuff that those of us who have paid attention see is a very big factor in the world, and all of a sudden, thousands and maybe millions of people are going to be investigating it themselves. On the one hand (am I running out of hands yet?) this could lead to the perpetuation of lots of the disinfo I have been concerned about. On the other hand, once you let this out, there’s simply no controlling where it will go…people will even get off the internet and read a book or two or even do some real live sleuthing. And that aspect to all this intrigued me. And naturally, I was alerted to this possibility by one of the non-clues in the non-arg…a comment by “Jeremy” of one of the myspace telephone box pages:
hi kate, brian eno delivered a lecture at the bbc radio 3 free thinking festival on the possibilities of open source. although i work in academia i am totally for the collective in terms of addressing the issues that confront the world. the net offers a collective voice one not as mediated by class, education and wealth. although the wealth bit does need some work doing.
i enjoy the sense of trepidation aroused by putting ideas out there.
hope the festival went well.
cheers jeremy
(Note, now the comment atop his page says “Jeremy is says ARG” so now these guys are aware of the lunatic calling them part of a huge online game. )
So I really don’t know. I pursued the telephone box thing so intensely because if I got the number, called it, and got someone on the other end who verified that they are part of this (what are the odds of falsely decoding a phone number and then getting someone on the other end who decides to pretend they are part of the game) I’d have the evidence I needed. Sadly, I failed at that.
There are so many games being played…but I have to say that at this point I’m finding many of them funny. For example, this link, takes you to a page that does little but reprint Theresa Duncan articles. However, not only is it on wordpress, it happens to feature this exact background and looks just like this page. Just to spite them, maybe I’ll change the background of this page, but I kinda liked this look.
So, if I can get my act together, I will have a “Dream’s End Annex” or something like that (I now realize that the “Annex” idea is sort of like the one on one of the DB websites. “DB” as in “dirty beloved”, not “Duncan/Blake” I mean.).
If I make any progress sorting out what is going on underneath all of this, I will post some articles about that. Meanwhile, I hope to get back to some of my other investigations as I seem to have run off most of my regular readers with this ARG business. Someone wanted me to look more into Ron Paul, for example. And I might, though I find Dennis Kucinich to be more interesting. Something not right with that guy. If someone happens to know if Daniel Sheehan is working on his campaign again, I’d be curious to know that.
However, be patient with me. Organization is not my strong suit. I thought by now someone would already have started a forum and then there’d be all kinds of subsections and structure to it and I could just take advantage of that. Eventually, the seaword blog will add on a forum, I feel pretty sure…and maybe that will become the hub of discussion.
What to make of how I was simultaneously roped into this and trashed for buying into it in the first place? I’m still not completely sure. But please rest assured, the freak-out post was a bluff. The most strain on my marriage was simply the amount of time I spent on this, but to be honest, it wasn’t really that much more time than I spent when I first started playing the computer game, Civilization IV. I tend to have a rather compulsive side when it comes to tackling new challenges and, obviously, new games. For now, I have to back off the big picture analysis as when your best theory runs along the lines of assuming that this is all being run by Derek Jarman from beyond the grave, you know it’s time to recharge the ole brain cells for a bit.
But I’ve not really seen anyone here comment in ways that make me think anyone is even following the links I’ve put out there. Meanwhile, people simply keep sending me more material. But it’s silly to keep putting it up here if nothing is getting done with it and I’m just one guy…I couldn’t follow all these leads if even I did nothing else.
So, the blog will stay but will have a “sister-blog” onto which I can put all the Duncan material. I don’t promise to make it as comprehensive or well organized as seaword, but I’ll try to put stuff up there that I think is significant and not making it up there. Just combing through the comments I see a bunch of material that someone should follow up on. If you are really into this, I’d suggest doing just that.
I really do intend to make this move. However, I will likely get distracted…especially if I come across some particularly interesting bit somewhere…and may end up begging the indulgence of regular readers for a bit longer if that happens and I write about it here before I get the other place set up. I just wanted folks to know that…it seems like a good way to get this blog back on track.
For now, other than the above link, the most interesting thing I’ve seen posted was that the new game by computer game company “Rockstar Games” is called “Manhunt 2″. Rockstar, if you remember, is where Blake was allegedly working while sipping whiskey.
Also, Rosenbaum hasn’t done the big reveal yet about his growing doubts that Blake actually did commit suicide but that should happen soon enough.
Perhaps I’ll be simply a little footnote when the full story of this gets told, if it ever does. But at least remember this: ya heard it here first.
How to play the game.
The game, or at least one section, is played on myspace. That alone, as postmodern commentary on the idea of identity and community in virtual space is pretty clever. So let’s start with the “London Icon.”
Like most of you, first thing I thought of was “Big Ben.” However, I could not find any combination of “big” and “ben” and then adding to that “franklin” which got a unique hit in myspace. I also then ran the names of various figures involved in the Franklin coverup. Nothing.
So what are other icons. I tried the “Battersea Power Station.” That looked promising. (By the way, I don’t know if you need a myspace account to see all these…I think not but I do have one now. There’s absolutely nothing on it…just wanted the account. One thing you are looking for is an overlapping group of friends…most of whom are bands or musicians or at least identify as such. And by the way, keep the volume up…I may be delusional but this journey will allow you to hear a lot of different music and as frustrated as I got, I never failed to appreciate that, even though I am not a fan of myspace, I kept hitting some really nice music.
If you aren’t familiar with myspace, one the upper left under the icon is a link to “pics” and “videos” and below that usually a list of interests. Also there will be the date of last login…if that looks “stale” you are likely on the wrong track. On the right will be a link to blog entries if one is actually maintained. On the right further down is usually a list of “friends.” The names and icons will be visible. Below that will be a list of messages from friends…again with the icons visible.
So, nothing incredibly solid at BPS. Was it the wrong London Icon? One of the confirmations I got is that the various “London Icons” on myspace seemed all to be adding each other to their friends list as I was exploring…and I figured this was to make sure there was a trail to the correct icon. And as you can see there is now a “thank you for adding me” friend comment from another London Icon: “red telephone box”. Actually, there are two myspace pages dedicated to “red telephone boxes”. This one seems to have the overt clue and the other one…and they linked to each other…has a lot of blog comments that seem to be allusions to this…in fact it is even the myspace of a guy named “Jeremy” though his pic shows it’s not the same Jeremy we have come to know and love.
Back to “Red.” Scroll down and on the right you see some discussion about how music is the universal language and the mock “formula”: M+tb=c(nap). He says this is: “Musicians + telephone box = communication (not a problem.) Nope…no clues here.
Obviously, there are seven letters, which can be replaced by the numbers they associate with on the phone. It becomes 682-2627. But what area code? And hopefully it’s not an actual call to England as that’s expensive and I don’t even have international service. A couple of alert commenters pointed out via wiki that there are several such phone boxes here in the U.S.
With those clues, I tried every combination of area code from those places plus the numbers. I re-arranged in a bunch of ways as well. Mostly I relied on a “reverse lookup” web page to see if I had a real number. Finally I just started calling them…but no luck. And believe me…I tried a lot. I also tried “RED” as the number 733. That is not an area code, however. If there were further clues about how to arrange the digits I didn’t get them.
Then I received a clue that was so striking it had to be correct…but may have turned out to be a bizarre coincidence. “EVE” has spent all her time at her website recently talking about how she’s not in on it. However, she is. So she left a clue in her “about” page which was simply “who is a baggage icon?”. I took this to mean I should do a “whois” search on some baggage related place or else find “baggage” on myspace or something. By dumb luck I happened to google “baggageicon” as one word and got one hit. It looked promising as it was a parent directory of an unfinished website for “Big Bend Development Company.” Get it? “Big Bend”? Like “Big Ben” but with a D…”? All from that baggage icon clue. The phone number on that page happens to have all the same digits as the above, but with an area code. I compared the two numbers, noticed that what was left over was 262 and played around with that idea. However, still nothing seemed to work. So…I called the number itself and had a long talk with Peter Schwabe. I picked him because there is ANOTHER development company called “Peter Schwabe” development in the same area and their website looked real, so I thought maybe this was fake. We had a long talk…he was rather amused by the whole thing and didn’t have any insight into the affair.
Anyway, that may have been synchronicity. But what was NOT synchronicity is that the little blurbs from “RED” changed the next day. Now he says: “current status: safe! garlic-free zone … but i’m expecting a call shortly from the jar of pickled garlic …”. The previous message was simply: “current status: safe! garlic-free zone”. So you can see why I figured I was onto something. However, one of the reasons I pulled the blog is that I thought I was supposed to be the one to call. So I ditched the blog for awhile for the reasons I mentioned but also to keep other people off this till I sorted it out. Which I evidently sucked at. And now I think time is running out on this clue as “Red” says he’s “sitting on top of the box with a parachute…” or, in other words, ready to bail out.
Oh…”jar of pickled garlic?” = jpg. That is, the picture gives me the clue. But it doesn’t. I did google the origins of that particular picture and it is, indeed, allegedly in “Oxford.” England, of course. Well, let me just say that if THAT is the clue, it doesn’t work. Haven’t tried actually calling England but I can’t get the right number of digits from this for that anyway. But I called the Oxford, Mississippi are code plus the number and got ringing, then a transfer to a very different ring and then a high pitched sound sort of like a fax…a pause…and then another sound like that. Likely it was a fax or a computer or something. And, in fact, the number checked out to be of what appears to be a real business in Oxford, MS. Then I even looked at the properties of the picture. The name was just a long series of letters and numbers that don’t seem to hold any phone number. The dimensions were interesting, however. The height is 262 pixels. That 262 showed up everywhere. Even the number of “friends” on his list is 262 though it was only 260 the day before.
If you click on the picture of the phone box you get his photo album which only has three pictures. One of the phone box with the caption: “Me”. One of an elephant with the caption “trunk call” (which I think is similar in meaning to “long distance call”). And a picture of a bear that says “on hold.”
So, with all that information I couldn’t come up with a number that worked. I did hit a couple that at least rang but most gave me recorded “not in service” messages.
But while we are on this, I might as well take you a couple more steps down the myspace trail. You can hit the OTHER red phone box guy, Jeremy, and read the blog entry that was on top when I found it two days ago. It’s pretty suggestive:
The Protean Man
Hi guys, at my age, approaching mid-life, I find myself increasingly contemplating change. I have a sense that some sort of wisdom is creeping up on me. As I continue to read and think about the times we live in and my position within it, I am ever more persuaded that all that we are conditioned and socialised into holding dear is but fiction, a narrative so dominant that even our acts of rebellion conform to the script.
We search for identity and in the process consume a multitude of products, some iconic but all ultimately dispensable. Relative wealth merely changes the consumption from necessity to lifestyle products. In the desire to be defined we seek out style references, indulging in both nostalgia and avant-garde, mixing and matching, shabby and chic.
I spend time each day seeking out obscure music, searching for that 1st edition oblique strategies box, trawling charity shops for memorabilia that harks back to a more innocent and simpler time. Stuff starts to pile up and things that I prioritise never seem to be realised. One day I will re-watch the Prisoner series.
I find increasingly that I’m content to slip in and out of role, change tack, backtrack and utter clap trap. When faced with issues involving others I think about how to respond and often I struggle with an internal dialogue over the merits of my attention to their concerns. I have an increasing sense that it is all pretty meaningless in the greater scheme of things and they would be better to turn their attention to matters of consequence. My revisiting the arrogance of youth.
Not liking conflict I tend to moderate my impulse and play to the role expected of me but there is a sense that I can’t continue in this vein. This is where choices come in. Do I wait for some external catalyst that propels me into a change of course or in a more existential sense do I attempt autonomy of action and set the controls for the heart of the sun.
It is interesting that when one plays the role of the male middle class husband and father the circle in which one moves and the potential for a tear in the fabric of your reality is pretty slim. Even tragedy can be managed and joy and elation become frozen in lifestyle moments.
Working in the garden today I reflected on the pleasure that I get from myspace and I think it stems from the possibilities, the potential that is stored in the idiosyncrasies of millions of people. It is an antidote for the stultifying reality of the constraining roles that many of us are held by. I enjoy the opportunity to be a me that I often hold back on. The chance to travel a little further up the autistic spectrum.
Part of the wisdom that is emerging for me is manifest in the lack of guilt attached to thought and action and an ability to own up to the array of roles with a decreasing sense that I have to explain or justify them.
Today Matthew I’m going to be….
Dada dada dada,
Jeremy
Notice the only two comments are from a “Kate” and a “Pete”, two folks Duncan was concerned with. Different last names, obviously, but the names seemed like confirmation.I don’t want to unpack all that for you…but lots of suggestive phrases. Meanwhile, there’s the idea of the garden which seems to be a theme…and I think this confirms that the color red corresponds to summer. Oh wait…I haven’t explained that part. If it’s an ARG there has to ultimately be an underlying structure…and though I have had no time to spend on this, here is a page that alleges to be about the history and symbolism of the chess board. I’m pretty sure the content itself is b.s. but it has all the markings of a puzzle involving numbers, letters, colors, seasons etc as well as movements on a board. Check it out. (The link was provided by Sounder from the RI blog comments, I didn’t just go off on a tangent.) It reminds me very much, in fact, of the book based treasure hunt, The Merlin Mystery, which I got absolutely nowhere with a few years ago. I’d recommend that those of you who think I’m nuts go have a look at that book (puzzle was never solved but the solution was published.) At least you’ll see what a “real” puzzle like that looks like and see why I keyed in on the above link. As always, it could be a false lead, I suppose.
Not to belabor the point, but the site that holds the “game board” is the “cult of the dead cow” which is some kind of hacker organization…which probably means my computer is already “OwN3D”. Anyway, some interesting features from wiki on them
To further the Cult’s stated goal of “Global Domination Through Media Saturation,” over the years cDc members have granted interviews to major newspapers, print magazines, online news sites, and international television news programs
I’d recommend reading the whole wiki article. From Jeremy’s phone box I noticed he said he was “Listening to The Owl Project.” That’s one of the music groups in his friends list. So I hit that link. Like most of these links they not only appear to be legitimate musicians, but seem to be, to me at least, quite good. So please don’t think I’m suggesting all these are fake. In fact, I didn’t find a whole lot there yet because I got sidetracked by an odd icon in the comments section there.
I actually pulled that pic off the blog because I had named it “MKULTRABlake” just for my own reference and didn’t realize that the pic name would show up on the blog. I don’t mean to provide false clues. I am associating the pic with the “search for Blake” theme but the guy’s too skinny. You can go to his site and click on his photos and see another photo of him full length, only very, very blurry. I believe I mentioned the trail of blurry pictures I kept running into. These are so blurry you can’t make them out at all.
Obviously the name of this guy’s site “MKULTRA” was suggestive. And the blurry pictures as well. In fact only one pic has a comment…from myspace member, “cassette tape“. (If nothing else you will learn that myspace is a very odd place to spend time….). Cassette tape says this about a very blurry pic of a room…in fact the pic is an animated gif so it stands out:
yes, i like this one.
but, i would, wouldn’t i?
XD
Okay…well, I don’t mean to suggest I am 100% certain that all this is relevant and not just a sidetrack I got on…mainly because I got so caught up in the freaking phone number business that I haven’t had time to really explore that. But if you think that using myspace as part of an ARG is unusual, think again. Because to ADD to all this weirdness, there is now a real, commercially sponsored ARG on the theme of perfume. I was pointed to this at the “Seaword” Theresa Duncan portal, which as I mentioned, seems to be the official entryway…or at least was a very rapid effort to collate all Duncan material in one place. The person says there’s nothing to any of the conspiracy theories but doesn’t mention why he or she is spending so much time and effort collecting all those links. It is an ad campaign for “Covet” perfume and says you have to read a blog and scour the internet, including myspace for clues. I’m pretty sure that Duncan was not murdered as part of some perfume viral marketing campaign, but it is suspicious. I am attempting to link directly to the page that explains the game but you may get redirected directly to the intro page.
So, aside from the odd “perfume coincidence”, I link to it so you can see on a small scale what an overt ARG would look like. Check blogs, scour internet, get prize.
Okay…I want to get this post up there. If you are interested in learning more about artistic movements featuring hoaxing, fake identities, image vs. reality mind fucks and the like, why not go to a site linked directly from Duncan’s blog. And by the way…are all you who come here and criticizing actually LOOKING at any of the material I’ve discussed?
Anyway, if you go to Duncan’s site and in the links click on “Miighty Flashlight” and then click on THEIR links, you can learn about all kinds of Situationist art efforts to create false identities (the top link, of course, is to Theresa Duncan’s site, which has nothing at all to do with the false identity thing). Check the links on the “Bernadette corporation” and also the link to the Reena Spaulings gallery. Reena Spaulings is the fictional subject of a collectively written novel by the same name. If you click around on those links, which, I remind you, were linked via Duncan’s site, you’ll learn about all kinds of artistic efforts with subversive goals (but if you know me, you know I don’t automatically equate “subversive” with “bad”…though I don’t get what they are actually trying to accomplish) which are designed to mess with ideas of identity and image. So, once again, we know Duncan was into that stuff.
Oh, there’s someone at RI who is being sure to tell everyone that there is nothing to this ARG business who, at the same time, has helpfully provided me some clues along the way. He suggests that the person at the other end of the phoneline is going to “suck out my soul” or something. Since I couldn’t crack the phone number, I’m in no danger, but I pass the warning onto you. I really don’t know who is behind this so do please be careful. There is one commenter here who is part of the game who had a nice blog post that encouraged me in my efforts, and then, after I pulled the blog, yet another post featuring a photograph of a dismembered corpse. The blog, like so many of these, has only a very few posts but you can read them here. Please be warned about the very graphic image that is currently at the top.
And another game player, EVE, now claims to be getting email from the same Nathan who emailed me. You can even see the photograph they sent me purporting to be of Johnny Gosch. And please read her discussion of how she determined it was not really James Guckert. She mentions a conversation with “Carol Joynt” who does an online interview series called the “Q & A cafe” which are filmed at Nathan’s cafe in Washington, D.C.
I knew about this place already because it was called to my attention by “Nathan” himself. He provided a link to this interview by Joynt of James Guckert himself. And if you can read body language, you will be fascinated to see that there seems to be not a word of truth coming out of the man.
The note accompanying the link from “Nathan” was brief and to the point:
It’s not really a game. It’s life. But all the world’s a stage yes?
Just becareful what you print. There is a child involved.
Welcome to the stage.
Again, I don’t know who they are, or why they picked me. At this point, I could believe they are really the good guys with a project to focus all of us some very serious issues that can’t seem to make a dent in the mainstream media, such as child trafficking, which is certainly quite real, or some intel types or Larouchian types who have an axe to grind with me, or simply some “Situationist” artists who are unconcerned that this little “art project” has disrupted my online life for awhile, so keep those cautions in mind if you decide to get into all this.
However, except for the excessive time this has taken up, I don’t regret this experience at all. I just got yet another cryptic warning email…I get a lot of those…suggesting that I need to stop showing “ambivalence” as they will use that against me somehow. I wrote back that the opposite of ambivalence is certainty, and certainty has caused for more havoc in the world than ambivalence ever will. I’ve allowed you to see my shifting ideas and opinions so that you could see for yourself that I’m struggling to sort this out.
And I have one more word of advice. All those sites out there which are so concerned about spreading the Theresa Duncan conspiracy theories…why don’t you stop linking to my site? Just ignore me.
If you are so certain there is nothing to see…then stop looking.
This Number not in Service
Update: I was given a lead to another number…this time in England. I called it (Turns out our landline has international dialing) and here’s the weird part. I got the same deal as when I called Mississippi. A few normal rings (though the double type you hear from the UK) and then it switched to a totally different ring tone and then a fax sounding noise. Now, I don’t have a fax. So I appreciate the new information but this is the second number that I was sure was correct that sent me on an electronic goose chase. It’s possible that these are simply two instances of a common occurrence. I don’t know what the switch to the second ringing sound is about but maybe that’s how lots of faxes sound? I just wanted to let everyone know that I followed the clue and it didn’t work.
Whatever this is is far too big for me to tackle alone. And I wasn’t planning on it, though evidently I’m the only human on the planet that thinks this thing is, in truth, a massive ARG. In fact, if you could sit right here with me, it would be trivially easy to demonstrate that this thing exists and has purpose. If you have explored the few avenues I’ve taken you on, then you already know this for yourself.
There is a portion of this little puzzle, though, that seemed to be meant for me or at least lots of folks were helping me to find the answer. Unfortunately, I am totally stumped…but I suppose before I get into that I guess I should explain my last post.
I have been inundated with people tossing clues my way. Some are great, but not relevant to where I am at the moment, some are great but intentionally misleading and some are probably just people who are crazier than I am. It was too much and I needed to slow things down. In addition, I still have not ascertained the real nature of the people behind this. Who would show concern if I seemed headed toward a cliff? Who would give me an extra shove?
I guess you can read the comments yourself and see what you think. And if you are ticked off at my little bluff, well, it’s not like I don’t keep telling you to stop uncritically believing what people say online. The most significant players in this thing are looking me right in the eye, virtually speaking, and saying they have nothing to do with any of this. Then they drop references that are so clear they might as well be “I’m in the game” spelled out in 48 point font. And nothing I wrote in the previous post was untrue…it was all true. Strain on the marriage, calling into question so much of my previous work, etc. I just “screenplayed it up” a little. (Insert paranoid joke here, but if you aren’t actually in on it…you are going to feel really really stupid in the not too distant future.)
I’ve been picked for some reason. I think I let my ego get the better of me and assumed it was something intrinsic to me…how I work, how I write. By pulling the blog…I was hoping to force someone’s hand…just a tiny bit more guidance and maybe I can end this. But it may have been more a conspiring of circumstance. This blog ties in, in many ways, to the subject matter that this “ARG” deals with that it seemed tailor made. And the rumors and whatever that I am actually behind this have started…. and there’s no way I can prove I wasn’t involved wittingly in this.
Despite admitting to the bluff I’m not saying it hasn’t been stressful. It has. I’ve promised my wife that today was the last day of this obsessive process. I made the promise thinking I was pretty close to having this little puzzle solved. (I mean just this one little portion I’m trying to crack.) Woops. Anyway, pulling the blog was a bluff…but I couldn’t hold out too long because I feel like there’s some kind of clock running on this thing, especially for the bit I’m stuck in. The bluff didn’t work. I’ve not received but one email inquiring about my status. Only one. And since I pulled back…not a single clue has been tossed my way. This, perhaps, is why I don’t play Texas Hold’em for a living. It was instructive, but I’m not sure I gained much from it.
So I’m going to do what I always do when I have a problem and simply toss it out there and see what happens. Last time I did that, it resulted in the removal of the very clues that we probably could have used. I don’t think I could face that again, so I’m going to hold off on exactly where I am until the morning. At that point, if I can get my wife to forgive me one more time, I will take you through as much of this puzzle as I’ve been able to crack. I wish this one little spot where I am now had not proven so tough because there is now SO much out there I’d like to share with you. So many side roads I had to leave unexplored for now…and I’ll be interested to see where those lead.
I can’t go on being the main outlet of information about this ARG, another reason I pulled the plug for awhile. Having my reputation dragged through the mud is unpleasant enough, but I just don’t have the time to keep focusing on this. Not at NEARLY this intensity level. I think that has been anticipated, however, as a very swank new website has emerged that collects every single article out there on Duncan and Blake. I prematurely suggested another site had this role, but one look at that site and you’ll see that it’s going to be a central clearing house of Duncan material. Take a look at it…and then come back here and tell me the game hasn’t started, despite the official denials and obligatory knocks against DE (they do link here, though don’t know if they dropped those links yet). Very professional looking, I’d say. Well, except for that weird little smiley face in the upper right portion of the background. Oddly enough, I saw that same smiley face on another site I visited connected with this. Anyway, not sure what that’s about, but as long as smiley man doesn’t have hair we don’t have to worry too much about this ARG intersecting with the Mayday Mystery…THAT would be a bitch, huh? (edit: shawnna down below found that wordpress just puts smileys on blogs for technical reasons, though obviously I never got one
. I’m leaving the mayday reference though in case you’ve never heard of it. Sort of a “case study.”)
In any event, there are people with actual discussion forums already in place which could be borrowed for this sort of thing. I’d avoid Rigorous Intuition, though. They don’t take to kindly to all this here ARG talk.
So perhaps my role in this was coming to an end anyway. I’m going to be pissed if I release this info tomorrow morning and someone else cracks it just like that and rakes in whatever reward may wait there. But as I think about it…I didn’t get even that far on my own. When I see the answer worked out (unless I am TOTALLY off on that) I will likely realize that comments left here were what got ME as far as I did get. So I guess it’s only fair. In a few hours, if I don’t get a warning that they’ll pull the plug like they did for the diary, I’ll put it out there for distributed processing…maybe one of you will crack it.
I told them up front “I suck at ARGS.” I can pull together the threads pretty well. I’m well versed in conspiracy culture…and can make all those sorts of connections. But if you’ll remember, I couldn’t even sort out entering “mjcheney” as a search term at Myspace when the clue was “Mary Jamie Cheney.” So playing number scrabble is probably not going to be a strength in this case either.
I wish I could tell you exactly what is going on. It is very, very deep…maybe even open ended. There’s a part of me that’s hoping that Nathan was not bullshitting me and that there is, indeed, a nobler purpose behind this (not that I literally believe his cover story.) But I will tell you this…if you follow THIS rabbit hole, you are heading into some VERY dark places.
Here’s my hope. I hope very much that this, in fact, is not just a game. It is my hope that the people behind this have all learned that it’s simply not possible for one person to “grok” the enormity of the corruption and criminality that has a stranglehold on our world. It is my hope that they have created a new “open source” and “distributed” method of allowing millions of us, together, to bring light to these dark places. That together, we might “unravel the twisted tentacles of deceit.”
But I can’t say that’s what’s going on at all. I’d like to believe it…but even if it were true, they probably wouldn’t tell me.
Or even if they did, they’d probably tell me in an anagram.
It is 12:40 a.m. local time. I am going to bed. In the morning…maybe around 10 or so, I start writing what I know. And then, it’s up to you.
Checking out for awhile.
I am exhausted and on edge. Despite wanting to take this in good humor and in stride, the games are starting to get to me. All of my private messages were erased at “Rigorous Intuition” and Jeff says he has no idea how that happened but it must be someone is “hacking in and fucking around.” Jeff doesn’t even talk like that.
For the last 2 or 3 years, some of the people I respected most as I attempted to explore many of my areas of interest on that board and then here, turn out to be in the game. It was all an act. And beyond that, whatever meager reputation I had on the internet for the work I’ve done has been thoroughly trashed over at RI. I have been threatened with legal action, threats to have my blog “obliterated” have been made…and I even was for awhile, apparently, communicating directly with Robert Eringer, the CIA spook discussed in a previous post. If it wasn’t him, he sure is someone VERY familiar with certain situations at the very least. Everything I’ve done has been called into question and there is no chance of recovering this blog for the purposes it was originally intended for.
In fact, and this is the weirdest part, I think there are areas of research I went into with no outside suggestions whatsoever, that turn out to tie into this game. I can’t explain that in any way that doesn’t lead straight to the psych ward.
Meanwhile, the comments section and my email box are being filled with more clues, fake clues and just plain b.s. that there is no way one person could possibly sort through it all. I don’t even have time to cut the clues being sent via email into new posts. And when I do, the sender then gets angry and tells me to remove them anyway. So why the fuck are you sending me this stuff if you don’t want me to print it?
My wife thinks I’ve become obsessed…my marriage is becoming strained and I have my regular work, related to school, getting ready to crank up again. I’m broke, disillusioned and completely uncertain where to go from here.
Theresa and Jeremy are alive. It is all a game. It is sophisticated, well financed and has been in preparation for at least two years.
I just wish someone had asked permission before deciding to hijack my fucking life.
Thanks for listening.
P.S.
Need a Cat nap…can’t find a good area. Made a new friend.
I am feeling:
Maybe these people know…

Alice Underground: The Theresa Duncan ARG
UPDATE: What looks to me like the official entryway into the game is now avalailable here. Just as my “psychic” predicted, there is a throughline involving electricity we get:
Ah the history of electricity. Nothing does more to solidify ones intellectual bona fides than to write about an esoteric subject. (Say like “Electric Fairy Tales: CD-ROMs and Literature”—but nevermind; we’ll come back to that one another day.)
Let’s examine the posts that The Wit filed under “the history of electricity” label. There are six posts total on this subject. Two of them are throwaways: one is really just a photo, the other is a supposed letter from a fan. That leaves just four posts on electricity. (Shocking, isn’t it?) Only four posts, yet they merited mention in Segal’s story. I wonder if he had the chance to read them. Have you? Oh, you must! I insist on it.
No link to this site. This guy could just be someone else looking into the ARG aspect but he hasn’t mentioned that and so far, I’m the only game in town. However, I have made my intentions clear and I think the ARGonauts have jumped this ship. So they need a new outlet. Watch as this guy starts digging and finding odd “clues” and as he starts getting communication from people with “certain knowledge” or cryptic posts that seem to point the way somewhere. Somebody who commented here actually had a link to that site or one with a similar name on blogspot but it wasn’t up yet. I’ll try to find it and out the little bugger.
Update on the Blake Investigation
I want to reveal to you the structure of the ARG as I understand it so far, including information from those claiming to be at the heart of it. I take nothing they say as being “truth” and have no way to verify any of their claims. I do have some trails people can start on if they are interested…I’m not spending time on that side of things at all at this point.
First off, I said last time that the plot line would involve increasing hints and finally a revelation that somehow, Blake is still alive. I don’ t think they can change that part of the plotline…but who knows. But I did want to let you know that I have talked to two people involved in the identification of Blake’s body, and both certainly seem credible and authoritative. Dr. Haskill Askin, Forensic Odontologist for the Ocean County Medical Examiner was the one who made the I.D. He verified that the dental details of the body he examined were consistent with the dental records provided by the prosecutor’s office. If you Google the man, he has a list of achievements, certifications and honors a mile long. He seems a credible source.
I also spoke with the Senior Investigator on the case, Sandra Rodriguez. She couldn’t comment much on an ongoing investigation, but did say she retrieved the dental records herself directly from Blake’s dentist in New York. She said the records seemed to be longterm records and not just from a visit or two. She was very nice and listened to the information I provided her with interest. Obviously, believing to have the body of two suicide victims, she didn’t think my information was enough to take any action on…and from her point of view…I have to agree. My main point was to verify everything we’ve been told in the media.
So this brings us to a disturbing place. There are only three possibilities. The story as we received it is basically correct. The story is incorrect, but because the two were murdered. Or finally, the story is the beginning point of an ARG, and yet real bodies are involved.
And this brings up another uneasy fact. As far as I can tell, the Church of Scientology doesn’t seem to be taking much legal action or even much PR action against those spreading the story that Duncan and Blake were being harassed by Scientologists. It even has that information in its own box on wikipedia. That’s out of character for the CoS to say the least. I don’t really know what it means.
Jamie Cheney and Nathan
I am, however, now going to present to you the information I’ve received from the parties claiming to be behind the ARG. I have told them I will not present any of it as if I am vouching for their claims. But I have tried to be careful to ensure accuracy and to keep those few things off the record which they requested me to, such as email addresses.
Remember, I’d received a “clue” from “Nathan” pointing to a comment on the Rigorous Intuition blog made three weeks before Duncan’s death which seemed to indicate foreknowledge of Duncan’s death. “Aloha to a lonely wit” was the phrase. No one seemed to find that too significant…but coupled with all the cryptic messages, posted before and after Duncan’s death as well as the interlocking series of very odd blogs, some of which overtly mention “secrets”, it was proof enough to me that people who at least THINK they are behind an ARG have been building one since before Duncan’s death. More on that when I list some links to pages of interest.
Nathan was disappointed that I’d printed the clue about the “diary” and closed that particular avenue. I told him that I didn’t have the time or the skillset (I actually suck at ARG type puzzles, to be honest) to go chasing those clues and simply to say what he wanted to say.
From there, I received an email from “Jamie Cheney.” She claimed to have been the one to provide the information to Jeff Wells at RI about the fact that Anna Gaskell’s brother Jon was editor at a newsweekly called “Pointblank” when it released what he later claimed was an “April Fool’s Hoax” about children, mind control, snuff films and Project Monarch. We have commented already on just how hilarious a hoax about snuff films and child sex slavery is, and questioned why Gaskell never received any disciplinary action whatsoever.
Well, I was surprised to learn that, according to Jamie, “Nathan” is none other than Johnny Gosch. In fact he has several other alter personalities as well, including the much discussed Jeff Gannon, AKA Jeff Guckert, the alleged former male prostitute who came to public notice by not only getting press access to Presidential press conferences but to the White House itself. Naturally, I have written Gannon in order to get a comment.
Here is Jamie Cheney’s description of all this, printed as received:
Nathan is one of Johnny Gosch’s personalities. I saw Johnny about 7 times before he left the Indian reservation in Minnisota (you know that state where the bridge collapsed). Let’s just say that Johnny and I are “the marriage of two scandals.” And let’s just say that Johnny has two children.
Jeff Gannon is one of Johnny Gosch’s personalities as well. And Jeff has abandoned Johnny’s family. And Johnny is pissed. So Johnny through Nathan, gave me the anagrams to post on R.I. because he knew that after Duncan published her diatribe about Gaskell on her blog and basically said she was a mind controlled slave (you know like Johnny), she was going to get hit….fast.
I mean it’s crazy but the whole thing is true…Jeff is Johnny and Johnny is Nathan and Nathan used to be called Raven but he changed his name when they got to Washington. It seemed innapropriate.
I also received a photograph of what appears to be a young Johnny Gosch in front of a blue, castle-shaped birthday cake. The fact that the pic was in color was important to “nathan” as he suggested no one but Gannon could have it, as it was sent to him by Noreen Gosch in order to “spur his memory” or something along those lines.
In any event, they confirmed there is an ARG, with the somewhat unlikely twin goals of combatting child sex-trafficking and providing some valuable prize for the “winner”. Nathan tells me that the ARG is, indeed, well financed.
Other aspects of the ARG that I’ll point out, and you’ll see these mesh with some images and clues you’ll find here and there…and pay particular attention to blogs that were around before the announcement of Duncan’s death. Whether that was all somehow hoaxed or it was real, those blogs (they typically use blogs as you don’t need to register a domain name as you do with a web page…harder to track the person behind it) are part of the reason I found their claims credible.
The “game” involves a ten-year-old child. When I asked if the child were named “Alice” she confirmed that an “Alice is involved” but not that this was the name of the child.
And that’s about it. Jamie never granted me access to her “diary” which had a whole host of clues in it, supposedly, most written in cryptic style as dictated by one of nathan’s “alters”.
At this point, I need to reveal something a little personal. My wife has “Dissociative Identity Disorder” formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder. It did result from childhood trauma but when some of that finally surfaced in memory (along with partial flashbacks throughout her life) it didn’t seem to point to any “mind control program”. But I’ve had people insist that this, in fact, was most certainly the case as I searched for answers. I spent a long time wading in the conspiracy lore about “Project Monarch” and the like. So you can see how, if much of that turns out to be a result of some ARG-types prepping of this campaign, or just used by people like that, I might get a little upset. Five hospitalizations and several suicide attempts later, I am not in the mood to tolerate disinformation on this subject. And I think for the last couple of years, that’s about all I HAVE been getting. To end this personal note, I would like to say that I hope Jamie and Nathan are just hoaxing me as everyone thinks. Because if this turns out to be a largescale “ARG” exploiting all this material, I will come after every last person involved. And I will get it shut down. Just so you know.
I don’t have a way to explain all the reasons that I think the ARG is there for sure, but I’ll give you some places to start. First off, notice that it seems odd that Duncan had never referred to “Lonelygirl15“, a well known internet hoax in which a girl reveals increasingly disturbing details in a series of “youtube” video diary entries. The whole thing turned out to be the project of some film students and was shown to be connected to the Creative Artists Agency, a very big player in Hollywood. The disturbing details revealed are rather similar, in fact, to those finding their way into Duncan’s narrative.
And if you read some comments of one “Tony B” you see an interesting (albeit anonymous) description about what Duncan’s film project actually was:
Theresa and Jeremy were in the process of developing a privately financed, web-based feature length film with shoot dates in the Fall of this year. I know this because I signed on as the director of photography and my wife would contribute to the design.
I can’t help but wonder if we aren’t supposed to assume “Tony B” is actually Anthony Bregman, the producer of such films as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (sorta mind controlled themed, in fact). Bregman was allegedly the one to produce Duncan’s film project that was, also allegedly, called “Alice Underground”. Tony B’s self description up there doesn’t match that. In any event, we have been told she was working on “Alice Underground” a film in which two kids kidnap a rock star, resulting in an enhancement in his fame. We are also now told, but rather anonymously that this project was to be a web-based film.
By the way, Tony B’s name links to “xenu.net” an anti-Scientology site.
And while you are on the above page, if you’d like to see one source of the internet lore which connects “Alice in Wonderland” with “Project Monarch mind control programming”, there’s a handy excerpt from some of the most poorly crafted disinformation on the subject by Cathy O’Brian. Cathy O’Brian was referenced on Duncan’s blog, but only in terms of a link to her video “The Most Dangerous Game.” I think she linked to a different part but in this video you will encounter all of the various themes related to Duncan’s blog and the ARG itself.
So, who is behind this? Let’s look at the options:
1. A group of hoaxers or crazies who have had an ongoing sort of “roleplaying” exercise on Jeff’s blog and also in their own blogs who happened to make a cryptic comment regarding “Aloha to a lonely wit” and immediately capitalized on my “ARG” theories to rope me in or make me look real dumb.
Pro: It could happen. And while there is an interconnected series of blogs and clues, some of which appear to date back before the Duncan death, they could simply have been creating their own ARG environment along these lines.
Con: I can’t really convey well the sophistication of all this. I get emails from various people who are clearly tied in but maintain unique characters. The clues often lead to blogs which clearly seem significant, even if only within their “delusion”. Finally, it’s clear that their “story” is that it’s a deadly serious mission. And yet, oddly, Nathan affirms that there’s also a prize for the winner.
2. The ARG is actually part of launching Duncan and Blake’s “Alice Underground”, a web based, interactive mystery.
Pros: It totally fits. I’ll outline the main elements of it at the bottom of this. Also, it’s exactly the kind of thing they’d be into and uniquely qualified for. And to be honest, I love the ARG concept though I wouldn’t have time to participate…but not in relation to this subject matter and certanly not involving real deaths. In addition, for such a public couple, information on those two is hard to come by. Most will only talk “off the record” because of how they were harassed by the couple. But typically speaking, dead people cease to engage in harassment, so it just doesn’t make sense.
Cons: There are dead bodies. If there aren’t, some police and medical examiner types are in serious trouble. Assuming this is a Hollywood production…I will rule out real murder as a possibility. However, there must have been some use of other bodies somehow. And while I think the storyline of the ARG is going to go that direction, how to square that with real life is a puzzle.
3. The ARGness is real, and the people who are contacting me really are who they say they are and it’s all part of a plan to fight child sex trafficking and stop Project Monarch.
Pros: Umm…well, it is what they said, anyway. And they did back up their claims to a degree.
Cons: How on earth is creating an ARG that only I seem to believe exists going to help anyone? And the addition of prize money or whatever….it sounds like a big marketing thing to me.
4. There really is an ARG, but these other guys have a separate little network of “pseudo-argness” that turns out to be unrelated or an intentional red herring.
Pros: I cannot for the life of me figure out how, if this is a full scale ARG meant for a wide audience, that it can continue so blatantly using the Cheney theme, tying him in directly to allegations of mind control and rape, etc. Duncan simply announced she had a big revelation coming but then never actually wrote her article: “The Devil in Dick Cheney.” So it’s possible, since we see how far the Cheney/Nathan folks are taking this, that this will not turn out to be the storyline.(I don’t have to tell you what the big reveal will be about “Jamie Cheney” do I?)
Cons: I really don’t want to have to untangle that. Clearly, stumbling on an ARG-like structure that is thematically identical to Duncan’s blog by mistakenly thinking I’d found such a structure on Duncan’s blog itself seems unlikely. However, as a red herring it may do nicely. Still, Duncan DID write directly about Jim Cownie, suggesting that he was a child sex-abuser, though the language was somewhat vague. And speaking of that…no lawsuits from the Gaskell/Cownie clan? No orders to remove that material from her site? What’s up with that?
5. There is no ARG but bad guys really are involved.
Pros: How could there be any pros to that? However, it does explain the bodies. And it also explains the fact that they are pulling in real people: Jeff Gannon, and Noreen Gosch…to name two. Noreen’s son really was kidnapped and no kidnapped mother would approve of any games such as this in the name of their kid. I think people have been messing with Noreen since very early on but I await her reply to my email about all this.
Cons: Again, it doesn’t make sense to both assassinate the couple and yet leave all sorts of little clues everywhere. And, if they really are powerful enough to pull all this off, then I am totally and completely fucked. While I keep my real name out of this blog…it’s not that hard to find, and I know I’ve corresponded with people in the game using my own email address. So, I choose not to accept this version of events, despite the presence of real bodies.
Let me sketch out the details of the ARG.
There will be various entry points, perhaps with more added. More and more details will begin to emerge about the circumstances surrounding their deaths and clues that Blake isn’t really dead and perhaps hints that he is going after the bad guys undercover.
Blake will be determined to be alive…somehow…against all odds. Likely he’s adopted a fake identity…in fact there will be a lot of that sort of thing. Oh..and if I’m right, rest assured, the two will reunite on an island somewhere.
Several key images and phrases will help guide the searcher. Women or girls in masks. Crowns and other references to “monarchs”. Alice in Wonderland themed images. And, somewhat bizarrely, all sorts of stuff related to early seventies glam rock. The word “magic” will also be around…perhaps even as a tribute to the original commercial ARG called “Majestic”. (In internet lore, sometimes the word “Magic” is used in connection to UFO related material as a “top secret” code name.)
The idea of “twins” will be prominent. As far as I can tell so far, the poet “Sarah Hannah ” was quite real. She has a lot more web presence, oddly, than Duncan, as far as things like funeral arrangements, memorial pages, etc. However, her suicide and physical appearance so resemble that of Duncan that seems likely to be a part of the storyline somehow. And Gaskell and Duncan are linked somehow as well. One or more of them will likely be revealed NOT to be the person we thought they were.
Somehow the phrase “Theresa is really Sable Starr” will come to have more significance. The plot line may track back through the groupie culture of the seventies, involving underage girls exploited for sex by rock and roll stars. Hmm…high school girls and rock and roll stars…that sounds familiar. Not sure how that will work exactly.
I think it is possible that part of the hunt will involve looking for a legenday “Holy Grail”, which is the sixth edition “Star Magazine” which was never actually published, if, in fact, any of them were actually published.
In case you don’t get what this alleged magazine really is, here’s another one. JonBenet would surely have graced the cover of this magazine:
And though I hate delving into the darkness here, if this turns out JUST to be a “game”, Jon Benet was actually wearing a star on her pajamas when she was murdered. This symbol has a lot of uses, then, in this ARG.
Perhaps you need to find all six editions, somehow, though if that magazine really DID exist (I still can’t confirm except via testimony from a commenter) then it would have to center on a mythical sixth, unpublished edition. There will likely be some key information there. Here…everything you wanted to know about “Star Magazine”. In fact, I think you should spend a lot of time looking at that angle, because I think I jumped the plotline which is why I kept getting pulled back. I can’t prove that, but it’s when I was looking into that whole line that I got the reins pulled in on me. (Reins I didn’t realize I even had…). And I’ve received many helpful emails from friends telling me I need to stop publishing for a few days. My feeling is, they need time to develop the storyline properly and I’m fucking it up. That, at least, is my intent.
I admit I have not spent much time at all on the clues being provided in the comments section here. First of all, you can’t tell which ones are serious. Some are meant just for me, however, as they involve using information linking to websites that only the administrator can access. I got one comment, for example, from “Pussy” (remember the cat images and get your mind out of the gutter) who asked me who I was trying to “kid”. I thought it was a hate comment, but as usual, it was another instance of a “clue” being provided by someone pretending not to buy into the thing at all.I checked the info and found the email address referred to “marawilllive”. So I googled that mouthful and came here.
Current first line, “Ok, I am a star of sorts.” To the right of that, a picture of a little girl with the caption: “Ten Years On.” Below that, the only external link on the page with no explanation which says “magic tricks.” It actually takes you to what appears to be a real site to buy magic tricks and paraphernalia. In the “about me” section it says, “I will find my way home eventually.” That line was there the first time I checked the site and is in the July 31 google cache. The “I am a star of sorts” comment is new. However, it is consistent with what I said to expect. Yeah, some of this will be as corny as “following a star.” Maybe the citing of “The Boys from Brazil” is also a clue…a dark plot involving Nazis and Joseph Mengele. In Project Monarch lore, Joseph Mengele is said to have come to the U.S. and headed up the mind control labs.
Also please notice that this blog predates my own writing about this or, in fact, even the announcement of Duncan’s death.
This is typical of what I expect you’ll find. If this is an actual gateway into the larger game…I can’t find a way in that way but I haven’t looked very hard.
There should be enough material via following the links in the RI comments. I’ll dig through the comments again and see if anything worthwhile pops up. I wouldn’t waste too much time on anagrams…too many possible solutions and if that is a core component of the ARG it is poorly designed.
Let me know if you find anything… Oh, I guess I’ll end with my recent revelations from a “psychic”. This seems to me to reinforce the theme that there is a movie tie-in here. Clearly these are meant to be clues…but I’m not sure why they closed the diary…I guess that’s because I announced it here. I suppose the idea was to slowly extend invitations in that way.
(I have removed some of this text at the request of the sender. That’s the last time I do this after the fact…if you have info you want off the record, please mark it accordingly. )
Hello,
I am a psychic. I have contacted Noreen Gosch in the past (see below).
I received this yesterday in meditation w/ a “flash” of the dreamsend email address:
The diary will remain closed. Johnny is running the show. The big prize is on its way to the LONDON ICON.
B. Franklin knows that lightning strikes the castle again and again and again and again to infinity and beyond.
Sally
(Duncan had a very odd list of interests, including “the history of electricity.” Ben Franklin ties into that.)
I have no idea – the first thing that popped into my mind was Benjamin Franklin, but that’s pretty obvious.
I do not know what the “big prize” is but I feel it has something to do with a movie. In a semi-lucid sleep I kept seeing a black and white movie (like an old movie) rewinding and the same shadow of a man (carrying a suitcase) going backwards. The suitcase really stood out.
Sally,
I wonder about the idea that Noreen actually wrote the above…how many people wouldn’t think of “Ben Franklin” there?
One more thing…the words “Girl lack”

Then I see the same shadow of man in front of the Whitehouse, it’s the same man as before, but yet not the same, not a positive presence…he’s taking a dagger to back of young woman, he’s stabbing her in the small of the back. Then then the young woman becomes older and he takes the dagger and and stabs the older woman in the hip.
Then he turns to himself (he’s two now with faces opposing each other) and the darker of the two says, “it worked.” And one is pleased and the other is very devistated; and then I see a beautiful book gilded like something holy or sacred burst into flames.
It was sickening to feel how the darker of the two enjoyed watching this beautiful text being destroyed by fire.
Hope this makes sense to you.

I asked him for identification and he showed me an American Express card with no name and said he had no ID that he could show me. I don’t know who he is – I felt that he was a postitive presence seeking help. And this is going to sound very bizarre, but then I saw a flash of the backside of a woman with a mole close to her hips…..and then the words “hips don’t lie……mummy”

I received this in conjunction with your caseSally
Now…you have I think most of what I have. If you are truly interested…go look around for yourself. One final note: there was no way for me to present this material without appearing that I am somehow connected with this whole ARG. Not only am I not, they have manipulated me in various ways in order to make this blog a part of the “plotline”. I am the unwilling recipient of “viral marketing.” I can’t prove that, but I have never asked you to trust me as an anonymous name on the internet. If you don’t trust me, maybe you won’t trust them, either…and that alone is worth all this trouble.
But when I find out exactly who is behind this, and who has seen fit to manipulate me in the ways I’ve outlined before, I think my reaction will quite clearly demonstrate where my loyalties lie. So let me say it clearly. I have one goal here…
and that is to shut this fucking thing down.
Let me know if you wanna help.
